Summer in Villard de Lans

The weekend of your dreams in the Vercors Massif

The tourist capital of the Vercors Massif, Villard de Lans has managed to keep its heritage and friendly atmosphere. Summer is the ideal time to head out and discover this lovely village and its environs. Start by wandering down the winding streets of the old town, where you’ll discover numerous traditional houses typical to the region, easily identifiable by their stepped gables. You’ll also be able to appreciate the lovely Saint-Bonnet Church and the old village hall which today houses the municipal museum. Nearby is the main square, which since the Middle Ages, has housed the market. Held twice a week (once during the week and once at the weekend), you can enjoy regional products like Bleu du Vercors-Sassenage cheese and Ravioles du Dauphiné pasta.

If you like walking, Villard de Lans also has a range of other pleasant surprises. Around the village, there are ten or so marked trails that will allow you to appreciate the exceptional surroundings of this mountainous area from different angles. If you love cycling or mountain-biking, you’re also in for a treat. With its Mountain Bike Resort, the village offers an incredible playground for practising downhill, endurance and cross-country mountain biking, as well as fat bike. Yet that’s not all. Thanks to its natural environment and multiple facilities, the village has many other sports on offer for you to enjoy, including climbing, caving, canyoning, horse-riding, tennis and golf. Meanwhile, children will love the Ludin Parc located on the site of the 1968 Winter Olympics (offering tree-top climbing, archery, Alpine slides, miniature golf and inflatables), or the leisure centre where they can enjoy the aquatics centre and the ice-skating rink.
